China-based biopharmaceutical company Suzhou Ribo Life Science Co Ltd (HK:06938), and its Swedish subsidiary Ribocure Pharmaceuticals AB (collectively referred to as Ribo), announced on Wednesday that they have submitted a Phase I Clinical Trial Application (CTA) in the European Union for RBD3133, a novel siRNA therapeutic aimed at INHBE (inhibin subunit beta E), a therapeutic application for obesity.
The product is designed to selectively silence INHBE, a gene encoding the protein activin E.
The Phase I study, a randomised, placebo-controlled trial, is designed to assess the safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics, and pharmacodynamics of subcutaneously administered RBD3133 in participants who are overweight or obese. This trial will offer the first evaluation of the product in humans and will set up the foundation for further clinical development.
