US healthcare company Organon (NYSE:OGN) and South Korean biopharmaceutical company Samsung Bioepis Co Ltd announced on Thursday an expansion of their development and commercialisation agreement, granting Organon exclusive commercialisation rights in Canada for PYZCHIVA (ustekinumab), a biosimilar referencing STELARA (ustekinumab).
Under the agreement, Samsung Bioepis will retain responsibility for development, manufacturing and regulatory activities, while Organon will lead commercialisation in Canada.
The addition of PYZCHIVA expands the companies' Canadian biosimilar collaboration from five to six products across immunology, oncology and dermatology, complementing HADLIMA, BRENZYS, RENFLEXIS, AYBINTIO and ONTRUZANT.
PYZCHIVA is indicated for multiple immune-mediated conditions, including plaque psoriasis, psoriatic arthritis, Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. The product is expected to launch in Canada in 2026.
The companies said the expanded portfolio is intended to broaden patient access to treatment options and help reduce spending pressures on healthcare systems.
