Signatera study links MRD status to survival benefit from chemotherapy in colorectal liver metastases
6 July 2026 -

Cell-free DNA and precision medicine company Natera Inc (NASDAQ:NTRA) on Monday announced publication of new data in JAMA Oncology evaluating its Signatera molecular residual disease (MRD) test in patients with resected colorectal liver metastases (CRLM).

The findings, based on 298 patients from the GALAXY trial within CIRCULATE-Japan, were also presented at the 2026 European Society for Medical Oncology Gastrointestinal Congress.

According to Natera, the study showed that MRD-positive patients derived significant overall survival and disease-free survival benefit from adjuvant chemotherapy compared with observation, while MRD-negative patients did not show a meaningful survival benefit. Post-surgical MRD positivity was also strongly associated with poorer outcomes across both survival measures, regardless of prior neoadjuvant chemotherapy status.

The data represents the first large-cohort evidence demonstrating that MRD testing can predict overall survival benefit from adjuvant chemotherapy in this patient population.
