Biopharmaceutical group Hemogenyx Pharmaceuticals plc (LSE: HEMO) reported on Wednesday that it has signed a letter of intent with the National Cancer Centre at Vilnius University Hospital Santaros Klinikos to establish a scientific and clinical collaboration focused on FLT3-positive acute myeloid leukemia and myelodysplastic syndromes.
This collaboration comprises a translational research programme to study FLT3 biology across disease subtypes and a second workstream to establish point-of-care manufacturing and clinical use of Hemogenyx's HG-CT-1 CAR-T therapy at the hospital under Lithuania's hospital exemption framework. Hemogenyx will retain all intellectual property, regulatory rights and commercial ownership of the therapy.
The agreement could provide the Hemogenyx with clinical data from treated relapsed or refractory acute myeloid leukemia patients in Lithuania alongside its ongoing Phase 1 trials in the US. Hemogenyx said preparations are required before patient treatment can begin.
Hemogenyx also confirmed that adult and paediatric Phase 1 trials of HG-CT-1 in the US remain ongoing, with patients identified and undergoing screening, while development of its Chimeric Bait Receptor platform and CDX bispecific antibody continues at a measured pace as resources remain focused on HG-CT-1.
